CORNS

What is Corn?

A corn, also known as clavus or heloma or focal intractable plantar hyperkeratosis; is a thickening of the skin due to intermittent pressure and frictional forces.

Corns are cone-shaped and often painful inwardly directed callus of dead skin that forms at a pressure point near a bone, or on a weight-bearing part of the body.

A corn should be distinguished from a callus, which is a more diffuse type of callosity.

This condition often is seen in athletes and in patients who are exposed to unequal friction force from footwear or gait problems, including the elderly, patients with diabetes, and amputees. It should be regarded as a symptom rather than an effective disease.

Cause of Corn

It is a result from repeated accumulated mechanical trauma as well as other contributing factors like ill-fitting footwear, the presence of bony prominences (foot deformity), and certain physical activities.

Standing or walking for long periods of time, the weight of your body and the constant friction can also cause painful corns on the bottoms of your feet.

Are corns painful?

Corns may or may not be painful. Some corns may not be painful when it first develops but then become painful over time as it thickens. The raised areas of skin – especially of corns – can be tender or sensitive to touch or pressure.

Types of Corns

Corns tend to be small and round. You are most likely to see corns on the tops or sides of your toes. There are several types of corns:

  • Hard corns: These are small, hard dense areas of skin usually within a larger area of thickened skin. Hard corns usually form on the top of toes – areas where there is bone pressure against the skin.

  • Soft corns: These corns are whitish/grey and have a softer, rubbery texture. Soft corns appear between the toes.

  • Seed corns: These corns are small and usually form on the bottom of feet.

Symptoms and signs

Symptoms and signs of corns include:

  • a thick, hard patch of skin;

  • bump on the skin;

  • area of flaky, dry skin;

  • Tenderness or pain under your skin

How can Homoeopathy help in removing of corns?

Homoeopathy has many medicines to removes corns effectively. The pain, the bumps, the flaky & dry skin caused by the corns & bringing back the normal condition of the skin is very essential which takes place through homoeopathy.

Doctors, here at BRAHMA MADHURYA HOMOEOPATHY clinic have solved many cases of corns.
